2022 1/2 oz Australian Gold Kangaroo Coin (BU)

Each 2022 1/2 oz Australian Gold Kangaroo listed here is available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. All coins in this series come individually housed in protective capsules, with each of the 1/2 oz gold coins packaged as such. The 1/2 oz Gold Kangaroo is one of three weights with a set mintage limit. With just 100,000 coins to be produced at maximum, the 1/2 oz coin has the lowest mintage cap.

IRecent years suggest that the 1/2 oz Gold Kangaroo will not surpass this mintage limit. The Perth Mint strikes the coins as needed up to that mintage cap, rather than striking 100,000 coins in advance. The highest recent sales figure reported in this weight came in 2018 when 19,868 coins were sold in the 1/2 oz weight. The mintage cap that year was also set at 100,000 coins.

Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse side of the 2022 Australian Gold Kangaroo. This effigy of the Queen was created in 2015 by Jody Clark and first appeared on the coins of the Royal Mint of England. With the Her Majesty’s neckline and shoulders included in the portrait, Perth Mint offers a broader view of the Queen on Australian coinage for the first time since 1966. In this design, she wears the George IV State Diadem Crown.
