The 1/10 oz Gold Eagle coin has been one of the best-selling gold coins from the United States Mint since its 1986 introduction. It often competes with the 1 oz Gold Eagles for the top-selling spot among the gold bullion series. The first time it outsold the 1 oz coin was 1995 and other important sales years in which it was the top-selling coin include 1996 and 1999 through 2002.
1/10 oz Gold Eagles hold the single-year record for mintage figures in the series. In 1999, the 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle sold 2.75 million coins compared to 1.5 million 1 oz coins, outpacing the largest coin by nearly double that amount. Since 2014, the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle has outsold each of the other weights in this series, including 2019 when it sold 140,000 coins as the only specimen to surpass 100,000.
The obverse of 2020 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coins includes the design of Lady Liberty created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This iconic image featured on the $20 Gold Double Eagle from 1907 to 1933 and depicts Liberty as the guiding force leading the nation into an unknown future.
