From 1987 to 2012, the Royal Mint of England offered the Gold Britannia with .9167 gold content, better known as 22-karat gold. In 2013, the Gold Britannia series was updated to feature .9999 pure gold content, or 24-karat gold. With the exception of the 2013 1 oz Gold Britannia, all of the coins in the series maintained the same diameter size across the switch over from 22-karat gold content to 24-karat gold content.
