Johnson Matthey was involved in the precious metals industry from the early 19th century until 2016. The company expanded over the course of its history from a gold assaying business in London to become a global producer of gold, silver, and platinum bars.
The footprint of Johnson Matthey eventually spread to North America, with two locations in the United States and one in Canada. These particular gold bars come from its previous refinery in Salt Lake City as indicated by initials on the obverse side of the bar.
In the obverse design of 1 Kilo Johnson Matthey Gold Bars, you will find the basic Johnson Matthey logo. This design includes dual ovals with the full name of the company in the outer ring of the oval, and the purity of the gold in the inner oval. Also included are the SLC initials that identify this bar as a product of Salt Lake City. The weight and a serial number also feature on this side. The reverse of the bar is blank.
